Gibson Custom 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Faded Cherry
Offer by: Musician's Friend
Price: USD 2,799.00
Gibson's drive to pioneer a broad selection of guitars designed to meet the ever-growing demand for solid body electrics came full circle with the introduction of the double cutaway Les Paul Special in 1959. The model was actually introduced in late 1958, but only 958 units were manufactured that year. Its popularity, however, was almost immediate and production doubled to 1,821 units in 1959, making the Les Paul Special double cutaway Gibsons third most popular model behind the Les Paul Junior and ES-125T.This model had virtually the same features as the single cutaway Les Paul Special, including two Gibson P-90 single-coil pickups, a wraparound bridge/tailpiece, upgraded bound fingerboard, and inlaid mother of pearl Gibson headstock logo. Early versions also saw the toggle switch placed directly above the volume and tone controls of the rhythm pickup, and a small piece of plastic between the end of the neck and the rhythm pickup. Later versionslike this 1960 Gibson Custom modelfeatured the toggle switch much closer to the wraparound bridge/tailpiece, and the volume and tone controls in a more elongated formation. The 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cutaway from the Gibson Custom Shop represents the model in its most stylish designa painstaking recreation, achieving with absolute certainty the look, feel, and vintage vibe of the original. The thicker, solid mahogany body is faithfully reproduced, giving it the typical, lush resonance expected of any Les Paul. A one-piece mahogany neck and headstock with Holly veneer is attached to the body via a long-neck tenonone of the Les Pauls more time-honored characteristics from the Golden Era of Gibson guitars. The 24 -inch scale length neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard, pearloid dot inlays, and hand-crafted with Gibsons comfortable and highly playable 60s slim-taper neck. The electronics are made to the same specs, featuring CTS pots and bumble bee capacitors, along with the standard two volume and two tone knob setup and three-way pickup selector. A black, five-ply pickguard with beveled edges accents the contour of the body. The 1960 Les Paul Special Single Cutaway comes with the standard Gibson Custom Shop case and certificate of authenticity.Double-cutaway one-piece mahogany bodyMahogany neckLong-neck tenonRosewood fretboard60s slim-taper neck24-3/4" scalePearloid dot inlaysTwo Gibson P-90 single-coil pickups2 Volume, 2 Tone, 3-way pickup switchCTS potsBumblebee capacitorsWraparound bridge/tailpiece

Gibson Custom 1958 Les Paul Standard Plain Top VOS Electric Guitar Washed Cherry
Offer by: Musician's Friend

Early '50s rounded neck profile delivers the vintage feel players love. BurstBucker 1 and 2 pickups deliver famous vintage Les Paul tone.

Vintage Original Spec series instruments receive a special nitro-cellulose finish treatment yielding the patina of a gently-aged vintage guitar while handcrafting enhances comfort and playability. Gibson Custom 1955 Les Paul Historic Electric Guitar Heritage Cherry Sunburst
Offer by: Musician's Friend
Price: USD 3,999.00
In the mid-50s, a sunburst finish was not an available option on a Gibson Les Paul. In 1958, Goldtops were phased out and a cherry sunburst became the standard finish. Sunburst finishes became all the rage with some really popular artists such as Clapton and Bloomfield using late-50s 'Bursts. The single-cutaway Les Paul guitars were discontinued in '60-'61 and were not reintroduced for several years. Many players started stripping the gold off the top of their early-mid-'50s Gibson Les Paul guitars and having them refinished to emulate the desirable Sunburst Les Pauls. The Gibson Custom Refin features a beautiful heritage cherry sunburst top and even has an offset center seam to emulate the originals. The Gibson Refin Hot-Mod Les Paul also introduces a comfortable and resonant neck shape, the Soft Shoulder '55 Neck Profile.

The hot-mod slant on the Gibson Custom Hot-Mod 1955 Les Paul Goldtop Electric Guitar originates from a custom-ordered 1955 Les Paul that was later modified with humbucker pickups (introduced by Gibson in 1957). The classic combination of maple-topped mahogany body with ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and humbuckers delivers a glorious monster tone that introduces a comfortable and resonant neck profile.

BurstBucker humbuckers
The BurstBucker 1 neck humbucker on the 1955 Gibson Custom Les Paul replicates the sounds from Gibson's original "Patent Applied For" pickups, are slightly underwound, with medium "vintage" output. The BurstBucker 2 is a humbucking pickup wound in the range of Gibson's '57 Classic for replica sound. Unpolished magnets and non-potted coils, just like the original. Slightly hotter than the BurstBucker 1, the 2 works well in the bridge position with a BurstBucker 1 pickup in the neck position.

Soft Shoulder '55 Neck Profile

The Soft Shoulder '55 neck profile makes the Gibson Les Paul Refin Hot-Mod sit in your hand like no other guitar neck. Gibson's guitar team chose a '55 Les Paul that had a neck with a "magical feel" to serve as a model for the Soft Shoulder '55 neck. The depth is the same from the top of the fretboard to the back of the neck as the rounded '50s neck, yet has gently sloping sides that sit comfortably in your hand.

ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic Bridge and Stopbar Tailpiece
The ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge was the brainchild of acclaimed Gibson president Ted McCarty in 1954, setting a standard for simplicity and functionality that has never been bettered. On the Gibson Refin Hot-Mod Les Paul, the ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic is slotted directly into the body of the guitar using a separate stud and thumbwheel, providing a firm seating for the strings and allowing players the ability to adjust and fine tune intonation and string height in a matter of minutes. And held in place with TonePros long steel anchors and long locking studs, the stopbar tailpiece yields a great union between the s

Similar to the P-90 in appearance, the Alnico V is easily recognized by its distinctive rectangular pole pieces. The guitar pickup gets its name from the stronger Alnico V magnets, while each coil has 10,000 turns of 42-gauge wire to achieve its clear, round, ringing sound. It made its debut on a solidbody Gibson in the Fretless Wonder of 1954, the Les Paul Custom, or Black Beauty. P-90 single-coil pickup The bridge position is equipped with a screaming single-coil P-90 pickup. The P-90 was the standard pickup on all Gibson models in the late 1940s and into the 1950s and because of its crisp, bright tone it has experienced resurgence in popularity with many of today's modern rockers. This classic Gibson pickup delivers sizzling, slightly gritty midrange roar. You'll find that the P-90's high output and biting treble has more nuanced harmonic coloring than the typical Fender single-coil pickup.Soft Shoulder '55 Neck ProfileThe Soft Shoulder '55 neck profile makes the Gibson Les Paul Refin Hot-Mod sit in your hand like no other guitar neck. Gibson Custom Ace Frehley Les Paul Custom V.O.S. Electric Guitar Heritage Cherry Sunburst
Offer by: Musician's Friend
Price: USD 5,299.99
When KISS hit the stage at Nippon Budokan in Japan in 1977 with guitarist Ace Frehley behind a Cherry Sunburst, three-pickup 1974 Les Paul Custom, the entire packageband, guitarist, guitarembodied the height of glam-rock excess and success for the 70s. This was the ultimate marriage of pop and heavy rock, driven to meteoric heights by the record industry marketing machine, and ultimately attaining that otherworldly presence that great stadium rock should achieve: unbridled fantasy and party-hard reality rolled into one glorious explosion. In celebration of Ace Frehleys unquestionable status as a rock icon, and the epitome of glam-rock stardom that KISS represented at this crystalline moment in time in 1977, Gibson Custom proudly announces the release of the Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul Custom VOS, produced in a strictly Limited Edition of 150 guitars treated with Gibson Custom's Vintage Original Specification (VOS) aging process. Offering everything youve come to expect from Gibson Customs artist replica guitars, the Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul Custom is a painstaking recreation of Frehleys modified Les Paul Custom, based on intimate examination of the actual instrument. The Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul Custom has been created with close cooperation between Gibson Custom, Ace Frehley and the guitars current owner, Matt Swanson. Digital scanning technology was used to capture every minute detail of the actual guitar. In the image of the original Les Paul Custom, the guitar has a three-piece maple top glued to a mid-70s pancake body made from a middle and back section of solid mahogany joined by a thin maple veneer, with no chambering. The top is hand-sprayed in nitrocellulose to give it the same Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish as the original, and treated with Gibson's signature VOS process. The three-piece mahogany neck has been made made to match the originals thin profile. Decorative elements include mother-of-pearl block fingerboard inlays, multi-ply body and headstock binding, mother-of-pearl Gibson headstock logo and split-diamond inlay, and a cream pickguard. To match Aces original guitar, the Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul Custom is loaded with three period-correct double-cream DiMarzio humbucking pickupstwo PAF models in the neck and middle positions, and a Super Distortion in the bridge. And just like on Ace's guitar, the traditional 3-way toggle switch has been modified to only allow the use of the bridge pickup, allowing you to be able to accomplish one of Ace's most noted effects. The DiMarzio Super Distortion pickup offers searing lead tones and fat, chunky rhythm for the ultimate hard-rock performance. Hardware includes the classic pairing of chrome ABR-1 bridge and stopbar tailpiece, with Aces choice of Grover tuners with pearloid banjo buttons and Dunlop straplocks to keep the guitar securely strapped on through the wildest on-stage antics. In short, the Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul Custom is the ultimate embodiment of mid-70s aren

Offer by: Musician's Friend
Price: USD 5,699.00
In 1959, the Les Paul Standard made a change to wider, fatter jumbo frets which made it a more facile guitar. The significance of this change wouldn't be felt until the late '60s when Clapton, Bloomfield, Peter Green, and other emerging guitarists discovered its warm, thick BurstBucker voice and fast, smooth and easy-playing neck. Then the Les Paul began its ascent toward ultimate icon status. Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Series instruments, the 1959 Les Paul Standard VOS is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage guitar. Gibson Custom Ace Frehley "Budokan" Les Paul Custom Hand-Aged Electric Guitar Heritage Cherry Sunburst
Offer by: Musician's Friend
Price: USD 8,699.99
In celebration of Ace Frehleys unquestionable status as a rock icon, and the epitome of glam-rock stardom that KISS represented at this crystalline moment in time in 1977, Gibson Custom proudly announces the release of the Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul Custom, produced in a strictly Limited Edition of 100 hand-aged guitars. Offering everything youve come to expect from Gibson Customs artist replica guitars, the Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul Custom is a painstaking recreation of Frehleys modified Les Paul Custom, based on intimate examination of the instruments current condition. The top is hand-sprayed in nitrocellulose to give it the same Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish as the original, hand-aged to match the wear of the existing guitar. In short, the Ace Frehley Budokan Les Paul Custom is the ultimate embodiment of mid-70s arena-rock balls and bluster, and its available in strictly lim
